A person who has been suffering from serious health problems for many years is currently hospitalized in critical condition. The person themselves and their parents are unemployed. Their father receives a small disability benefit, with which the family is constantly struggling to make ends meet. The family has been trying since last year to raise the money the person needs to get to another city, and have the needed operation. These past months, the person has not even been able to properly move to take basic care of themselves. At the same time, the family could not afford the medicine they needed, which of course social security does not cover. The relevant services and the state refuse to contribute in any way.

Following some sudden events, the person's health got worse and they fell into a coma. They were taken to an intensive care unit and were incubated for a while, in critical condition. After a couple weeks, they started to get better, but the past couple days, they contracted a respiratory infection in the hospital, and are in danger once again. The person is going to need multi-month rehabilitation in a rehabilitation centre, and support from specialists, to get back on their feet. The family cannot afford something like this and social security only covers a small percentage of these costs.

The nonchalance of the state and its "social welfare" structures when a situation like this arises, does not surprise us. The person had communicated with us before the recent events that were described. Some acts for financial support were organized, but the money raised was not enough due to limited capabilities of support. For this reason, we decided as a free social space, to expand this call for support for the person and their family.

The amount raised will be used for part of the rehabilitation expenses and support from healthcare professionals, so that the person can be helped get through the problems they are facing and move on with their life.

Άτομο που αντιμετωπίζει εδώ και χρόνια σοβαρά προβλήματα υγείας βρίσκεται αυτή τη στιγμή νοσηλευόμενο σε κρίσιμη κατάσταση.Το ίδιο το άτομο και οι γονείς του είναι άνεργοι. Ο πατέρας λαμβάνει επίδομα αναπηρίας, με το οποίο η οικογένεια με το ζόρι επιβιώνει. Η οικογένεια προσπαθεί από πέρυσι να συγκεντρώσει το ποσό που χρειάζεται, για να μεταβεί το άτομο σε άλλη πόλη και να εγχειριστεί. Τους τελευταίους μήνες το άτομο δε μπορούσε ούτε να αυτοεξυπηρετηθεί, ενώ η οικογένεια δεν είχε χρήματα για τα φάρμακα που χρειάζεται, τα οποία δεν καλύπτονται από τα ασφαλιστικά ταμεία. Οι σχετικές υπηρεσίες και το κράτος αρνούνται να συνδράμουν με οποιονδήποτε τρόπο. 

Μετά από κάποιες ξαφνικές εξελίξεις, η υγεία του ατόμου επιδεινώθηκε και έπεσε σε κώμα. Μεταφέρθηκε διασωληνωμένο σε ΜΕΘ και πέρασε ένα διάστημα σε κρίσιμη κατάσταση. Μετά από δύο εβδομάδες, άρχισε να συνέρχεται,αλλά αυτές τις μέρες κόλλησε μία ενδονοσοκομειακή λοίμωξη αναπνευστικού και βρίσκεται ξανά σε κίνδυνο. Το άτομο θα χρειαστεί αποθεραπεία σε κέντρο αποκατάστασης και στήριξη από ειδικούς για να σταθεί στα πόδια του. Η οικογένεια δεν έχει την οικονομική δυνατότητα για κάτι τέτοιο και τα ασφαλιστικά ταμεία καλύπτουν μόνο ένα μικρό μέρος από αυτά τα έξοδα.

Η αναλγησία του κράτους και των δομών «κοινωνικής πρόνοιας» απέναντι σε μια τέτοια κατάσταση δε μας εκπλήσσει.Το άτομο αυτό είχε επικοινωνήσει μαζί μας πριν από τα πρόσφατα συμβάντα που περιγράφηκαν. Έγιναν κάποιες οικονομικές ενισχύσεις, οι οποίες λόγω περιορισμένων δυνατοτήτων στήριξης δεν ήταν επαρκείς. Αποφασίσαμε λοιπόν, σαν ελεύθερος κοινωνικός χώρος, να διευρύνουμε αυτό το κάλεσμα στήριξης για το άτομο και την οικογένειά του.

Το ποσό θα διατεθεί για μέρος των εξόδων αποθεραπείας και στήριξης από επαγγελματίες υγείας, ώστε το άτομο να βοηθηθεί στο να ξεπεράσει τα προβλήματα που αντιμετωπίζει και να συνεχίσει τη ζωή του.
